Senior Strategic Planning Consultant

Ann Adams provides counsel to local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Since leaving a successful 30-year corporate career in operations, planning and strategy, Ann has focused on providing expertise to local businesses and non-profit organizations, teaching classes on Critical Thinking/Decision Making, Developing/Implementing Strategic Plans, and Finance for Non-Financial Managers. On a volunteer basis, she has served on several non-profit boards, evaluated business plans for Metro Louisville CAP Committee and is in the process of becoming a legal advocate for the Center for Women and Families.

Her non-profit experience lies in the areas of strategic planning, human resources, community relations and board development. In Louisville, she has recently facilitated strategic planning projects for St. Vincent DePaul, The Food Literacy Project, House of Ruth, Beacon House Residential, Habitat for Humanity, Parkinson Support Center, Brooklawn/Uspiritus, and Apple Patch Community, among others.

Ann’s consulting roles have included: Annual and Strategic Plan meeting design and facilitation for private companies and non-profit organizations; Board Retreat facilitation, and other advisory services for business and individuals including strategy development and implementation, process analysis, financial and cash flow analysis, change management. Additionally, she has developed and presented management training curriculum in a Corporate University setting and taught at the University level. She has served on the boards of many local organizations including The Clifton Cultural Center, Spalding University Board of Overseers, Family Scholar House, The Peterson-Dumesnil House and the Frankfort Avenue Business Association.

As a business executive, Ann is best known in Louisville and the Midwest for her 30-year career with American Commercial Lines (and previously with SCNO Barge Lines) based in Jeffersonville, IN, where she retired in 2005 as VP of Corporate Resources responsible for corporate planning, quality process improvement, communications, training and development, and the Headquarters facility. Prior to that she had held roles as VP of Fleet Operations, where she held P&L responsibility of an ACL division with 300 employees and an annual budget of approximately $80 million. Prior to her work with ACL, Ann had a successful career as an entrepreneur and homebuilder. Ann earned a BS from Truman State University in Missouri and an Executive MBA from Owen School at Vanderbilt University. She lives in Louisville and is an active member of the community.
