Rick is a highly experienced professional with more than 25 years of executive leadership, Human Resource and management consulting experience in a variety of settings.  He has proven to be especially adept at identifying and aligning key organizational resources to bring about a team culture where members develop as professionals and fully engage in the mission, vision, values and business plans of an organization.   

Rick possesses a unique combination: a wide range of skills and experience in helping organizations identify and successfully implement organization development strategies, with an in-depth understanding of implementing innovative HR and healthcare benefits practices.  Rick focuses on clarifying strategic priorities, then assesses and aligns every key behavioral influence - all policies, processes, and practices, all HR life cycle systems, (incentives, awards, comp and benefits, performance management, management development, succession planning, satisfaction / engagement, separation practices, etc.), organizational structure, and senior leadership styles and behaviors - to shape and maintain a culture that consistently achieves the organization’s objectives.        

Since 2012 Rick has owned and operated ChD, LLC, a healthcare and management consulting firm operating primarily through BB&T Insurance services.  Prior to starting ChD., Rick was Vice President of Human Resources at Louisville based Appriss where BB&T Insurance and Rick jointly developed a unique national award-winning healthcare platform by becoming self-funded, developing a very active wellness program, an on-site clinic for employees and dependents, thorough coaching for chronic conditions, closing gaps in care and a high performance tiered network.   

As a management consultant, Rick has helped many employers implement large scale organizational change and lead transitions to create desired corporate cultures.  He has also provided individual and team executive assessment, coaching and development initiatives as well as many organizational assessments, with actionable in depth analytical reports. Rick has taught many graduate (MBA, EMBA, Psychology) and undergraduate courses at the University of Louisville, Bellarmine University, the University of Tennessee, and Maryville College (Maryville, TN).
