Melissa Raley

A dynamic and mission-driven consulting professional, Melissa Raley brings over 15 years of nonprofit leadership to organizations seeking to grow their impact through sustainable fundraising strategies, major gifts, and grant acquisition. With a deep understanding of nonprofit advancement and a talent for building donor-centered cultures, Melissa excels at equipping teams with the systems, strategy, and storytelling needed to scale results. Melissa has led advancement strategies for organizations spanning environmental conservation, homelessness, mental health, food literacy, and social services. Most recently, she served as Director of Advancement at Bernheim Forest & Arboretum, where she managed a comprehensive program spanning grants, membership, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and multi-channel annual fund campaigns. 

Melissa’s consulting expertise is underpinned by a rich background in events, planned giving, grants management, donor database administration, major gift fundraising, and capital campaign readiness. She has worked at organizations of all sizes, including the Coalition for the Homeless, Kosair for Kids, Wellspring, and The Food Literacy Project, and has consistently increased donor retention, event ROI, and community engagement. Her consulting is marked by strategic insight, hands-on execution, and a mentoring approach to capacity building.

She earned an Executive Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Melissa brings expertise, integrity, and grounded wisdom to every engagement—helping organizations tell their story more powerfully, build lasting donor relationships, and achieve bold goals.
